GSK discontinued branded Flovent in the US effective January 1, 2024. An identical authorized generic (fluticasone propionate inhalation powder, distributed by Prasco) remains available.

Active Medication & Mechanism

  • Fluticasone propionate ICS
    50 mcg, 100 mcg, or 250 mcg per blister

    Synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity. Inhibits multiple cell types (mast cells, eosinophils, macrophages) and mediators involved in airway inflammation.

FDA-Approved Dosing — Strength × Indication

100 mcg 1 inhalation twice daily → 200 mcg
Asthma FDA Approved
For patients previously on ICS or bronchodilators alone who require a moderate step-up.
250 mcg 1 inhalation twice daily → 500 mcg
Asthma FDA Approved
For patients previously on other ICS or oral corticosteroids. Maximum dose is 500 mcg twice daily (1000 mcg/day).
